Dominion posted video this couple days ago. For those unfamiliar, Hippoland used to be the slab spot in Richmond Virginia for a number of years. Last winter this place pretty much got shut down (ledges smashed, angle iron stolen)… Of course no one has really tried rebuilding in a more permanent method, so there may be life left in this spot, if someonefelt inclined to give it an attempt. In any case, this video is pretty much the entire Dominion crew (Gilbert Crockett, Maury Blankinship, Jordan Bradshaw, Erich Bielefeldt, Jack Beckett, Tyler Beall, Josh Swyers, Andrew Cauthen, Matt Kauchak, Josh Dew, and Alex Peregoy) so enjoy some solid shredding.

Here is the mellow one I promised. I guess it’s the heat that’s getting me introspective. I really love skateboarding. Period. The curbs, backyard ramps, contests, cookouts, traveling… Skating with new people and long time friends. Horizons shifted and perspectives challenged. A lot of my very best friends are in this short super 8 film that my bud Ward cut together. Any RVA dudes will recognize lots familiar spots and maybe a few faces too. It’s a small film that ended up getting shown in a bunch of festivals all over. None of that really matters. These are my friends. I am so happy that I got to skate with all of them, and that I still do.

A DIY Death

Fucked Up Friday Nights: Victory Sunrise Weissbier

I feel lazy.. like city employee… Here’s a review I stole from the interweb…

Appearance: Served to my end of the bar a clearish, light gold body with a small, white head.

Smell: A nose smelling predominately of husky, grainy wheat malt and cloves paired with lighter, though noted sniffs of lemon and Noble hops.

Taste: A start of anticipated tangy wheat malt with an integrated lemon citrus character and slight sweetness. Enter the cracked cloves which really push aside the other tastes. A light backing of Noble hops provides an additional spiciness and light bitterness. As it warms, the lemon flavor increases slightly. Finishes dry with a final mix of malted wheat and cracked cloves.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Positively acceptable! While not the most wondrous weiss it still makes for fine, tasty summertime drinking.

Whatevs… I think it tastes good and I got drunk so it works. 100% approval rating.

Southern Discomfort: Humidity Sucks

I’ve lived in Virginia my entire life so I really can’t say what other areas of the world are like but I do know that most people consider Virginia to be pretty humid, and therefore godawful, in the summer. There is no denying how gross it is to step outside at eight in the morning, hung over as shit and hating life as you get in your stupid automobile to commute to your shit job alone, only to feel that you could slice the goddam air with a dull spoon. It makes even the least bit of physical activity cause you to sweat like a whore in church.

Some pigs sweat.
