Fred Shred

Took a half day trip to Fredericksburg VA with my wife and did some cool shit. Ate some awesome Thai food, picked up some Railroad Magazines from 1947 at Riverby Books, and got two growlers of delicious brew from Blue & Grey Brewery… But the main point of this little personal story is our stop into Magic Bullet Skateboards and Records on Caroline Street.
The spot used to be called Fred Skates but was recently revamped by an awesome dude named Mark Eyestone. I’m not sure of all the specifics but I guess Magic Bullet is a record label that Mark’s brother, Brent, started a few years ago with a couple other guys and now they’ve kind of wrapped them into the same company/shop. The place is real small but stocked full of gear from good companies (Vox, Creature, etc.) along with plenty of shop boards with classy ass graphics (as in Aaron Horkey’s handiwork!!) There are also some records (MB releases, along with plenty of others) and some art on the walls.
Mark handled the place exactly how I feel a skate shop should be run. He was super helpful to an eight year old kid and his mom who were in there (buying a Creature deck) without trying to dumb-down skateboarding to please every single person that comes in. I could go on and on but I’ll just say that this is the type of place that deserves support, so please do. They’re only like 10 minutes off I95 so stop off if you’re passing on the highway.
